Mark Rees retains the Double Trap County Championship for 2008
Berkshire Double Trap County Championship
NCSC
13th July
The county Double Trap was shared with 4 other counties and 10 Berkshire shooters ventured to the NCSC for the competition.
It was Berkshire veteran Brian Rebbeck who was to take the early lead with 38/50 on the first line followed by Keith Kilvington and Mark Rees on 36. Nicola Heron was on 29.
Keith took the lead in round 2 with an excellent 43 for 79/100, Brian on 72/100 and last years champion Mark on 70/100.
Keith shot a poor 32/50 on the last line but a fantastic comeback by Mark with 42/50 saw him retain the County title by one point with 112/150 with Keith bridesmaid again on 111/150, Carl Miles was 3rd on 104/150.
Brian took the Veterans title with 104/150 and Nicola Heron was Ladies County Champion on 87.
No Juniors were present.
Peter Nelson wins the 2008 Single Barrel County Championship
Single Barrel Championships
NCSC
12th July
The NCSC once again put on a County Championship for Berkshire which was shared with Surrey.
11 entrants from the County were brave enough to attempt the Single Barrel competition, which on paper sounds a reasonably easy discipline!!!!!! NOT.....what is it about only putting one cartridge in the gun to hit one target that makes some of us turn into a quivering wreck.
Harry Hudson, following on from his DTL win, managed to miss the first target out but then powdered the rest for an early 24 followed by Adrian Miles also with 24, next was Peter Nelson with 23 and Ladies shooter Rachael Harding also with 23.
Harry continued to show the county shooters how it's done with another 24 in round 2 for 48/50 with Ady and Peter Nelson only one away on 47/50,Carl Miles chasing thee 3 on 46/50.
Round 3 proved to be the down fall for Harry coming off the line with a 20 which opened the flood gates for the chasing pack. Ady shooting the only 25/25 of the day to take the lead on 72/75, Peter and Carl on 70/75.
Rachael was still the leading lady with 64/75 and Tina Hamblin in second with 60/75.
Peter Nelson was determined to see his name on the trophy and a closing 24 saw him in joint 1st place with Adrian after he posted a 22 both of them on 94/100. Carl Miles was in 3rd after a late fight back saw him finish on 93/100.
So it was shoot off time again and after a round of 25 it was Peter Nelson who took the title hitting 23 to Ady's 21.
Brian Rebbeck was Veterans County Champion with 85.
Racheal Harding was Ladies Champion finishing with 87, there were no Juniors.
Many thanks to the NCSC for hosting the event and especially to Barry for presenting the prizes.
